Who’s ready for the next great social network? Well here’s App.net or ADN. We recently just joined App.net a few weeks ago and it’s a rather small social network but it is growing rapidly. There are also some rather nice looking apps available for App.net already. They have their own “App Store” that’s broken down by platform, and there are a few Android apps. So we’re going to check out 5 of them today. Then give away 500 invites at the bottom of the post.

Robin for App.net
This is the app that I use for my own App.net account and the Android Headline account. It’s very good looking app and also has a ton of features. But best of all it has support for multiple accounts and it’s tablet optimized! It’s a holo themed app, and did I mention it looks beautiful? It is about $4, but it’s well worth it in my opinion.
Drift for App.net
Drift is another client for App.net and it is semi-holo. In my opinion it’s not completely holo. Drift allows you to click on links, usernames and more. It also allows you to share images from the App. The developers also have plenty of features coming to Drift very soon.
Dash for App.net
This is the first app I ever used for App.net. It’s a great app with great features but it lacked multiple account support. Dash is a holo-esque app, and allows you to see your stream, mentions, and global feeds. In addition to viewing your feed and more. This is the free version, but there is also a paid version which adds a few extra features.
There are some great apps already available for the new social network, and we’re sure many more will be coming soon. Now for the invites. We were given 500 invites for our readers to join us on App.net for free. There is a new free tier for App.net which is kinda limited but it allows you to check out the site and see if you’re interested in joining one of the other tiers. The free tier allows you 500MB of file storage (for pics, videos, etc.) and you can follow up to 40 people. Then there is a $5/month or $36/year tier that gives you 10GB of storage and you can follow as many people as you want. Finally there is a developer tier that is $100/year and gives you access to the API to create apps, in addition to the 10GB of storage and other member features. It also gives you a discount on two member accounts.
For the invite giveaway there are basically no rules. But you do have to act fast. Just hit the link down below and the first 500 people to sign up get in. It’s just that easy. Once you sign up you’ll be automatically following Android Headlines, which you should do anyways.
