LG Scheduling Press Event for May 1st? To Possibly Announce the Optimus G Pro for the US?

We heard earlier this week that the Optimus G Pro is rumored to be hitting AT&T and launching on May 10th. Today, we are hearing word from our friends over at Android Guys that LG is setting an event for May 1st in New York City. Their source was not able to tell Android Guys what the event would be about, but we do have a pretty good idea. Since it's in New York City, it's a good chance it's an announcement for the US. Since we've already seen the Optimus G Pro and it was announced before Mobile World Congress, we are basically betting that it'll be about the Optimus G Pro.

Like we said already, we have heard that the Optimus G Pro is heading to AT&T. But if they are holding an event to announce the Optimus G Pro coming to the US, it sounds like it'll be more than just AT&T. We'll be crossing our fingers that it'll be coming to all carriers. That would definitely help out LG in catching up to Samsung.

Here are the specs for the Optimus G Pro:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD Display (1920x1080 resolution)
  • 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor
  • 2GB or DDR RAM
  • 32GB internal storage; Expandable via microSD card slot
  • 13MP rear-facing camera; 2.1MP front-facing camera
  • 3,140mAh battery
  • Android 4.1.2 - Jelly Bean
  • 150.2x76.1x9.4mm dimensions

We'll be keeping tabs on this, and hopefully we'll get more information before May 1st. We're hoping they aren't announcing a new tablet, phone or TV. But we'll just have to wait and see. What are you hoping or expecting from this LG press event? Let us know in the comments down below. I'm personally hoping for the Optimus G Pro to hit all the US carriers, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Cricket, and Metro PCS.
