Vu Digital recently launched Vu on Google Play. Basically Vu is a smart recommendation tool that will help you to get the most from your online experience. When you sign up, Vu automatically begins learning the content that you like. So the more you use Vu, the smart it gets and the more recommendations it'll offer you. When you tell Vu what stories and topics you like or dislike, you get a just-for-you content consumption experience. So if you're looking for a large publishing site or a new blog, Vu can help you with that.
Vu is optimized for 7-inch tablets like the Nexus 7. At this time it only supports Android 4.0 - Ice Cream Sandwich and above. But Vu Digital has said they'll be supporting older versions of Android further down the road. So you've got your Recommended Reading, Trending on Vu, and My Topics sections inside Vu. There you can find new publishers to follow and read their articles.
The overall UI of Vu actually looks pretty nice. Now it's not holo-themed, but it does look nice. Especially putting pictures front and center, but behind the name of the article and the source credit (via Gizmodo, etc.). When you're reading articles, it's pretty minimal, which means no ads are in the way. You can also go straight to the site and read the article. At the bottom of the article, Vu will ask you if you liked that article. That will help Vu determine what articles or publishers are best for you to read.
How many of you are looking for a new app to consume news? There's already apps like Currents, Flipboard, Zite and many others out there. Would you be willing to give Vu a try? If you do give Vu a try, let us know in the comments below.
