Facebook Home Not Coming to Tablets for "Several Months"

Today, Facebook showed off Facebook Home. Which is essentially a Facebook launcher for your phone. They also showed off the HTC First, which is their new phone. But we aren't here to talk about the HTC First. While some of you may not use Facebook anymore, including me, many of our readers do and will love this launcher. So when is it hitting tablets? Well not for "several months" according to Zuckerberg's team at Facebook. The phone version will be hitting the Play Store on April 12th. I'm sure there will be a port for tablets coming soon after. As it normally happens.

Facebook describer Home as "mobile best", while we don't necessarily agree with that right now, we'll leave it alone since we haven't been able to check out the new launcher yet. In addition, Facebook is also promising monthly updates to Facebook Home.

This whole thing seems puzzling to me. I hear so many complaints about how bad the Facebook app is on both phones and tablets. Actually, Facebook doesn't even have a tablet-optimized app for Android yet. You'd think they would go ahead and fix up their apps first before launching something new for Android, guess not. If you're someone who lives on Facebook, Facebook Home is probably the best announcement in a long time. As for everyone else, just stick to Nova, Apex, Go, or any other launcher on the Play Store.

So what does "several months" mean? Who knows. We hear manufacturers and carriers say that all the time with updates. It could be a couple of months or nearly a year. We'll just have to wait and see when it's available for tablets. We'll be sure to let you know once it's available.
