ASUS Cube to Start Shipping From Next Week; Google TV for $139.99

Announced back at CES this year, the "Qube", ASUS' first Google TV box will be shipping some time next week, and is up for pre-order now. It's gone through a little bit of an identity change since then, and cleaned up its act, now calling itself the ASUS Cube. Regardless of its naming, the device is shipping for a very attractive price tag of just $139.99 which both Google and ASUS hopes will bring in new Google TV users. For that price, it might not be hard to grab people's attention. More people than ever are using the internet to get their hands on quality content and with a box from Google under your TV, you'd be getting access to a pretty decent online experience.

The Cube is available to pre-order now at Newegg for $139.99 and the fine folks from Newegg have put together a fairly lengthy demo of the device (20 minutes or so) for you to take a look at if you're unsure as to whether or not the Cube is something you can see finding a home under your TV set. The video is embedded at the bottom of the post for you to take a look at.

For the most part, the ASUS Cube is yet another Google TV box but, there's a skinned interface on top which is modeled after a, yes, a cube. Whether or not this will make the Cube any more appealing is down to you but, it is nice to see ASUS getting behind the platform at all. While it'd be nice to see Google TV escape unskinned here, it shouldn't be a deal-breaker for most of you.

Those of you that already own a Google TV box might not be interested in purchasing another but, the Cube does look like an interesting device and for just $140, it's definitely in impulse buying territory. Newcomers to Google TV could have the perfect opportunity to get started in the Cube, again thanks to that price tag and a lot of you might want something that resembles a Borg Cube underneath your TV.

You can purchase the Cube from Newegg here.
