Google is celebrating a pretty significant milestone this week, the one year anniversary of Google Play. Yep, that's right, the Google Play store is now officially one year old!
The festivities will consist of a week long sale, or promotion, which presents various apps, and offer discounts. So far, the deals aren't the best we've seen, but hopefully they will get better as the week progresses.
I lifted this straight from the promotion page:
OUR GIFTS TO YOU BY THE GOOGLE PLAY TEAM
It was just a year ago today that we launched this amazing shop on the interwebs to offer the best in digital content. Since the best parties are the ones that send you home with a present, today we celebrate our birthday with a festive goodie bag full of gifts. Don't delay in picking up these limited-time offers. Continue the celebration all week with even more special deals on music, movies, books, magazines and TV along with exclusive gaming gifts. It's been an incredible first year and we look forward to sharing the gift of digital diversions for many more to come.Advertisement
The deals so far include the following:
- Free $20 gift card at Fancy
- $20 in gift cards from Gyft
- 10% off any Hotels.com purchase
- Exclusive characters in Yumby Smash
- Free new world in Gnome Village
- Savings on in-app purchases in Royal Revolt
- Free music: "Sweet Jane" by The Velvet Underground
- Free book: A Quest Of Heroes
- Free TV: Breaking Bad pilot episode
- Free music: "All My Friends" by LCD Soundsystem
- Movie Deal: 50% off Kung Fu Panda
It seems a little silly when you realize that some of the free offerings can also be found elsewhere, but hey at least we're getting something, right?
As the ad promises, there are seven more days (or maybe five) of these fabulous deals and offers. I'm sure over the course of the next week, there will be something appealing for everyone, at least I hope so anyway. Is there anything that tickles your fancy in today's bunch of deals and offers?
Go ahead and share your overflowing delight in the comments below, we know it's out there, somewhere.
