One of the biggest drawback in the Android ecosystem, in my opinion is definitely the lack of original manufacturer accessories, a thing that Samsung's Project J is going to change. If you haven't heard, Samsung is planning to ready a line of accessories for a couple of upcoming phones.
The initial rumor stated that Project J was aiming for just one device (most probably the Samsung S IV), but it has now surfaced that three devices will get accessories, each with its own codename.
The first one, Project J Altius, with the most accessories of the three, will be for the Samsung Galaxy S IV (or GT-I9500). The Galaxy S IV users will have at their disposal the following options to accessorize:
- Clear Cover
- Flip Cover
- Protective Cover
- Extra Battery Kit
- Battery size of 2600 mAh
- Wireless Charging dock
- HDTV Adapter
When it comes to headsets, Samsung is lacking behind the iPhone, not to mention the attention Apple's phones get from third-party companies such as Sennheiser, Bose and other headphone manufacturers. I really hope this will change, and not just in Samsung's case.
The second project is named Project J Mini Serrano. As you may already believe, this is for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV mini. This phone is said to be compatible with most of the S IV's accessories, except for the Wireless Charging dock. Having a different form factor, It will have its own Clear Cover, Flip Cover and Protective Cover.
But the most interesting news to surface from this project is the third device that has yet to be leaked or announced. By the look of the accessories and name, it will be a device for the sporty costumers. The Project J Active Fortius accessories are:
- Arm Band
- Bike Mount
With the success of the Kickstarter project Pebble, the smart watch that you can connect to your Android or iPhone device, the big companies have started reconsidering the idea of smart watches, so the Project J Active Fortius may just possibly be for a upcoming Samsung smart watch.
So which one of these tickles your fancy? For me, it's the the Wireless Charging dock.
