MWC Day 0 Recap: Galaxy Note 8.0, Huawei Ascend P2, HP Slate 7, and More

Mobile World Congres officially starts tomorrow, but that didn't stop a number of manufacturers from unveiling their new devices today. We saw a number of new devices announced today, but it all started last night with Samsung unveiling the Galaxy Note 8 and HomeSync Media Streamer. So let's start this recap with the Galaxy Note 8.0.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0

The Galaxy Note 8.0 is now official. It's got a 8-inch 1280x800 display with a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos 4412 processor. Of course since it's a Galaxy Note tablet/phone it does come with the S Pen and all the S Pen software. It's running Android 4.1 - Jelly Bean as well. But perhaps the most exciting part is that it can make phone calls. Read More

Samsung HomeSync Media Streamer

Samsung also announced their own media streamer, named the HomeSync. It is based off of Android 4.1 and has a 1TB hard drive that can store your files. It can also access your files from your Galaxy device. It's like Google TV, without Google TV. Kind of confusing right? Read More

Huawei Ascend P2

This morning Huawei announced the Ascend P2 at their press conference in Barcelona. It's got a 4.7-inch 1080p display, 1.8GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 3000mAh battery along with Android 4.1. So the specs mirror the HTC One quite a bit, except the battery is much bigger, which is always a good thing. Read More

Lenovo announces the A1000, A3000 and S6000 Tablets

Lenovo today announced two new 7-inch tablets and a new 10-inch tablet. All three are about mid-range or low-end tablets depending on your opinion. The A3000 and S6000 feature Android 4.2, and the A1000 feature Android 4.1. So kudos to Lenovo for getting Android 4.2 on two out of three of their new tablets. Read More

Acer's Smart Display - DA220HQL

Acer introduced their own smart display today, the DA220HQL which is a 21.5-inch 108op display and running on Android. There are some full sized USB connections as well as a micro-HDMI connector and running on a dual-core TI OMAP 4428 at 1GHz. Read More

HP's Slate 7

HP surprised everyone today and introduced a new 7-inch Android 4.1 tablet, and named it the Slate 7. While it's not the best name, it does feel great in the hand. But on the other hand the specs are pretty terrible. But it will be on sale in April for $169 so it might sell fairly well. Read More

Alcatel One Touch Idol X

Despite the very long name, this phone is actually quite impressive. It's a 5-inch, 1080p Android 4.2 device. So being the first manufacturer to get Android 4.2 on a phone that isn't a Nexus is quite impressive. Alcatel has the One Touch Idol X available in several colors as well. Read More

LG's Four Tier Optimus Line

LG also announced additions to four Optimus lines today. Including the Optimus G, Optimus Vu, Optimus F, and Optimus LII lines. With everything from high-end to low-end to everything in between. Read more
