So what was the best Android phone announced at CES last week? Most of you would probably say the Xperia Z, and I'd have to agree. While Sony did announce it and allow some hands-on time, they did not announce when it would be available, pricing, or even where it would be available. We've already been told the Xperia ZL is coming to Canada, but not the Xperia Z. And the Xperia Z has been confirmed for Australia in March, and parts of Europe by late-February.
We've already seen Clove UK list the Xperia Z for £528 which works out to $850 USD. Which is pretty hefty, but not expected. And now today, we've gotten prices for Finland and Australia. On Sony Mobile's local branch in Australia, they have not only listed the price for off contract, but also what carriers will be selling the device.
Now Sony Centres are already anxious to offer the 5-inch 1080p Xperia Z for A$749. It'll be available in black, white and purple. But you know they had to keep something a mystery, so "further carrier information as well as price plans will be announced soon." But you should still be expecting it to launch in February or March. As Sony did say it'll be available in Q1.
So there you have it, more leaks for pricing of the Xperia Z. While these could very well be the prices for off-contract purchases of the Xperia Z, they are leaks and we have to treat them as leaks. So be sure to take this with a grain of salt. But we'll be sure to keep you updated on pricing and availability of the Sony Xperia Z as it becomes available throughout Q1 this year.
For those that missed the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL announcements, they are both some great devices coming from Sony. Who's interested in picking one of them up? I'm still holding out hope that Sony will release one or both of these devices on all of the major US carriers, like Samsung did with the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. Let us know in the comments below if you plan on grabbing one of these new Xperia's.
