The rumor mill for the HTC M7 hasn't stopped yet. Just last night we heard rumors that the device would be heading to three of the four major US carriers, including Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T. Now we have an announcement date. But surprisingly this announcement date is before Mobile World Congress. Now that doesn't mean we won't see the M7 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. But according to @flapic on Twitter, HTC is having a special event in London on February 19th to announce the M7. Which is a page out of Samsung's book. They always have their own event to announce their devices.
Now this wouldn't be the first time that HTC has decided to unveil a device at an even in London. But this is a rumor, so we have to treat as such. So we urge you to take this information with a grain of salt. And until we get official information from HTC, who knows when or if HTC will announce the M7. But with HTC bringing the M7 to three carriers in the US, I'd expect them to have a US launch party as well, similar to Samsung's launch party for the Galaxy Note 2 in New York City.
So what about the specs? Well so far these are the rumored specs for the M7:
- 4.7-inch 1080p display
- 1.7GHz quad-core processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 32GB internal storage
- 12MP rear-facing camera; 2MP front-facing camera
- 2300mAh battery
So as you can see, the specs are pretty similar to the Droid DNA. And if they are planning to put the M7 on Verizon, why? It sounds pretty dumb to me to have two devices from the same manufacturer on the same carrier that are basically the same, except for the screen size. Let's hope that some of these spec's change at their announcement.
As we said this is a rumor, but we'll be sure to keep our eyes and ears open for information regarding the HTC M7. Who's interested in the HTC M7? Let us know in the comments below.
