We’ve known that Big Red would be getting a version of the world’s first connected camera but we weren’t sure when it was coming to the network and while we still don’t have any concrete figures, judging from this latest evidence, it has to be some time soon. The Galaxy Camera has been steadily making its way across North America and is available on a number of different carriers to get wireless wherever and whenever you are. Of course, the camera is already available of the US’ number two carrier – AT&T – but, that only brings with it HSPA speeds over 3G and when you’re uploading to instagram on a full camera, you want to be able to do it quickly.
A Support page over at the Samsung website has outed a version of the Galaxy Camera as being “Verizon 4G LTE Connected” and if that isn’t clear enough then I don’t what is. Considering that the page is live right now, it would suggest that the camera will be available on Big Red really soon. After all, both Verizon and Samsung will be keen to get a 4G version of the camera on sale. The model number of the Verizon version is listed as EK-GC120 but, apart from that it appears to be business as usual.
From the reviews that the camera has gotten, it’s clear that the Galaxy Camera is essentially a point and shoot digital camera with full Android running as well. The 4.8″ display and the build of TouchWiz looks and feels like it’s lifted straight from the Galaxy S III so, if you were looking for some sort of magic build of Android specifically for cameras then I’m afraid you’re going to be disappointed. However, there is a lot that you can do with this combination, you can edit pictures on the go and you go use Dropbox instant upload to never plug the camera into anything else ever again. Let’s not forget that with the new Snapseed app and a dedicated camera you can show off to your friends on G+ some awesome pictures.
Does the inclusion of 4G LTE make the Galaxy Camera more appealing to you?
