Tip: How to Get an Ingress Invite

By now I'm sure you've heard of a little game called Ingress. Okay it's not quite a small game, but it is a very popular closed-beta game. Ingress is Google's new Augmented Reality game that is based on location. It's actually a rather cool way for Google to get more Maps and Street view data to improve those two services. So even though Google is tracking you, it's great way to do it. So how do you get an invite to Ingress? Well that's what we are here to tell you today. There are a couple of different ways to do it.

Method #1:

  1. Go to ingress.com
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Now wait...

Now this method is probably the slowest way to get an invite. I entered my email address a few weeks ago and still don't have an invite using this method.

Method #2:

  1. Create some Ingress flavored artwork
  2. Post it on Google+ adding the #ingress and #ingressinvite hashtags.
  3. If you grab their attention, they will send you an invite.
  4. It's just that easy, well sometimes it can be quite hard.

This is how I got my invite to Ingress. If you have trouble being creative, sometimes a simple screenshot can do it. Once you get an invite, that doesn't mean you can't get more. I've gotten a few that I've given away to people on Google+. But please don't email me asking for invites, as I don't have any. Although there is some talk of you being able to get some once you hit a certain level, so we'll be on the lookout for that.

Sometimes it's hard to get these guys attention, as I'm sure you can tell, they get a lot of posts for them and comments.  But if you keep trying you'll get an invite eventually. And once you do, Android Headlines has you covered with plenty of information on Ingress and how to play, even some tricks for you to use while playing.
