Voting using your Smartphone or Tablet; Should it be Allowed?

November 6, 2012 - Written By Alexander Maxham

How many of you have a smartphone or tablet out there? Probably the most of you. So why can’t we use our smartphone or tablet to vote today? It would certainly take out the “I don’t have time to go to the polls” reason, wouldn’t it? Now we can buy just about everything from our smartphones, check stocks, bank accounts, and so much more on our mobile devices. So why can’t we cast our vote via our phone?

As much as we want to be able to be comfortable while we are casting our votes, it’s just not a possibility yet. As great as our smartphones and tablets are, they aren’t yet secure enough to vote for the Presidential race from, unfortunately.

While we can’t currently vote from our phones, it is a nice thing to look forward to. I say in the next five years, we’ll start to transition into a different way of voting that involves new technology like tablets, and even a way to vote from home. That will even get rid of the need for absentee ballots.

Who would love to vote from their Android device via an app? Let us know in the comments.
