Gesture based combat games are increasingly popular these days. Mostly due to the success that has followed after the release of Infinity Blade and Infinity Blade 2. Glu saw fit to capitalize on this craze and started to put out their own gesture combat game Blood and glory, and earlier last month released its sequel, Blood and Glory Legends. Here it is not more than a month later and they are dropping the trailer for their next game, which is.... You guessed it, a gesture based combat game. Except this ones on crack. Lots of crack. AND it ate is Wheaties this morning.
I present you with Death Dome. The gesture based combat game that feels like infinity blade when it comes to the combat, but looks like borderlands 2 in all its cell-shaded glory and splendor. Did I mention that it's got the energy of RAGE? Yea it's one hyper active game set on a path to knock you on your ass and keep you there playing it repeatedly for hours on end. The game is laced with RPG elements that will have you leveling up, and with each level you will gain new skills and more powerful attributes to help you in battle. Beware though, as you rise in level and skill so to will your enemies. Each stroke of your sword or weapon of choice will gain you skills to move you forward, but your enemies also grow stronger. Certain enemies are said to have specific weaknesses to elemental attributes or a certain type of weapon. So use your skills wisely. The wrong move could mean your last.
Here is a short passage from the game to give you some insight as to what the storyline has in store for us once it's released.
"No one really remembers where it all started...but before long...it was everywhere. The "M" virus... Most people who showed symptoms were dead within days...but others weren't so lucky. Mutations were showing up all over the city. The infected were quarantined in a bio-dome force field that encased the city of Palamira. Some called it a "safe zone", but most know it as the Death Dome. The M virus grew stronger inside the Death Dome and eventually became strong enough to live on its own without a host. Strong enough to become...The Behemoths!
The only name I know is Phoenix, I have no recollection of who I was before...The one thing I do know is that they will never dismantle the dome while the behemoths are still alive so I must take them all down....myself!"
Seems pretty legit right? Im a huge Borderlands 2 fan and I'm always up for an id software game. So if there are any elements at all that remind me of the play style of either of those two, I'll be quite content. I was never much of an infinity blade fan, but I am fairly fond of another gesture based game that hit android this summer. A little title called HORN. Not quite the same gesture based combat play, but similar ideals. Very well done at that. Give me the way you fight in HORN, add in some Borderlands 2, sprinkle some RAGE on top, and make it last for hours upon hours of game time, and were golden, GLU. What do you guys think? Is this something we should all put on our watch list? Check out the trailer and decide, then let us know in the comments.
