Sometimes you just need to run. Sometimes… there’s just no other option. It’s times like these You wish you had played Canabalt HD. If you had, you’d know what to do. Lucky for you guys, I picked this up during the Humble indie bundle for android #2 that was released earlier this year on March 19th, and will be giving you the breakdown here so you can prepare for that moment when you will ultimately have to save yourself by racing against time and making death-defying leaps. I’ve spend an innumerable amount of hours during the first week or so I had this game, powering through its endless running style of gameplay. There’s not much to the game, just running, but that’s what makes it so great! It’s simple, yet addictive.
Canabalt HD is a fairly simple platformer that will have you playing as some random dude who just has to escape the dangers of a building he is currently inside to avoid his untimely death. To keep the momentum going, you must run and run and run all the while dodging falling space debris, hopping over boxes on rooftops and leaping for your life across buildings to get to the next safe spot. The more you jump without interruptions, the faster you run, and the further you can jump. Buildings will be falling all around you and even some of the buildings you’re jumping onto will start to fall, so make sure you have a good speed or you might not make it across the next gap!
The game offers an experience like no other game you will play with its combination of smooth visuals, awesome soundtrack and simple yet fast paced layout. The game will originally start-up with its 3-D HD graphics set, but you have the option to scale it down to 2-D non HD graphics as well. Which comes in handy for those of you wanting to get in on this action on lower end devices. Not only that, but the game has a pretty sweet soundtrack to it as well, with selection of three different tracks in total to play in the background. When I first sat down to play it almost had a sort of TRON like feel to it. Not because this game is at all in any way like TRON or having anything to do with it, but because I had Just watched TRON Legacy and the music reminds me of the music from the movie. In any case, the music rocks, the gameplay is a lot of fun and the best part, is that it has a pick up and play anytime type of mentality that was developed into it so you can hash out a session for ten minutes or two hours. However long you can last is the limit. I myself have not lasted longer than 20 or 25 minutes before I always die. Think you can do better? Well then go and pick up the game and post your screenshots in the comments thread below. If you haven’t checked this game out yet and you’d like to, ive taken the liberty of posting the games link from the Play store just below as well as some screenshots and a Video. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!!
