Featured: Have FiOS? Like Fancy Remotes? Meet the Motorola Corvair

If you're one of the many out there that happen have a TV subscription with Verizon's FiOS service then you should be interested to hear that there's going to be one more remote coming to your living room soon. I say remote because, whilst it's technically an Android tablet it's hardly the type of tablet you're going to be draining hours and hours into. Motorola and Verizon are obviously very close, to the point of phones for other carriers being rare to say the least. This time around, Verizon's FiOS service is getting a boost from Motorola Mobility and soon, you'll be able to get your hands on the Motorola Corvair. A 6" sized machine that comes with the following specs:-

  • Android 2.3, Gingerbread
  • A 4000 maH battery
  • What's called "Reliable WiFi"
  • Ability to play, record and change channels on FiOS

This all seems pretty standard fare for what you'd expect to be put inside a fancy remote such as this. Something like this is more than likely going to be a welcome addition to the front room if you have kids as you can watch something on the Corvair without disrupting what's on the TV. Making sure you don't miss the latest sports scores and the kids are still happy! It's unclear whether or not this will be available as a rental device from Verizon or available for an outright sale.

News of this new device from the pair has come about thanks to a survey from Verizon that should be rolling out to FiOS customers soon, which will be your chance to help Verizon realise that we all need a little more tech in our living rooms!

For years now I've had a heavy interest in technology, growing up with 8-bit computers and gaming consoles has fed into an addiction to everything that beeps. Android saved me from the boredom of iOS years ago and I love watching the platform grow. As an avid reader and writer nothing pleases me more than to write about the exciting world of Android, Google and mobile technology as a whole.
