TomTom once of the biggest name is Navigation has been replaced for many by the smartphone. They have however developed a smartphone app that has seen success on iOS. The popular app is being prepared for its Android debut sometime in the coming weeks with co-founder Peter-Frans Pauwels saying the release should happen "fairly soon".
Above is a mock-up made by Pocket-lint based on the iPhone app. The Android version is expected to be more than a simple port and take into account the Android design language and usage will be optimized accordingly. iOS does not have the same Google navigation that is available on Android, so it will be interesting if people will choose to pay for this option when a very capable free version is already available. The TomTom Android app will need to bring some additional features to the table if it wants to enjoy the same success.
At this point only Android and iOS are being supported by TomTom and other platforms are out luck. Are you looking forward to what TomTom can bring to navigation on Android?
