The Sharp Aquos SH-12C is a Great 3D Android Phone

Sharp will have the Aquos 12C 3D phone available for Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo on May 20th. This device is rather plain in appearance but hey, it ships with Gingerbread so it can't be all that bad.

Specs from the release:

Dimension 127mm — 64mm — 11.9mm
Mass Approximately 138 g
Standby time 3G Approximately 430 hours
Standby time GSM 300 hours
Talk time (3G/GSM) 280 mins / 310 mins approx
OS Version Android Gingerbread 2.3
Processor 1.4 GHz Qualcomm MSM8255
Memory 512MB RAM / 2GB ROM
Main display 4.2 inches / 540—960
External memory (up to) microSDHC (32GB)
Rear Cameras CMOS camera — 2 - 8MP - 3D
Front camera CMOS camera - 3MP
Color BLACK or WHITE

The Japanese translation was a little spotty but the phone looks to have a largely stock UI and the hardware is understated but very clean. In short, this is a very "sharp" looking device.

There were rumors last year that Sharp would be bringing 3D Android phones to the US this year, but don't hold your breath for this one being on the list. I've seen several phones from Japanese manufacturers over the last few years that never make it past Japanese carriers.
