Tesco are always trying to make it even easier to find the food you want in stores and have released an Android app to do just that.
The app will be able to guide customers around the store to the food they want. Create a shopping list and Tesco will list its isle ensuring you can get your shopping done in record time (mind you don't bump into other customers while looking at the map though!).
Using in store free WiFi the app will be able to determine where you are in store and figure out the shortest route to getting your shopping done. Tesco hope the app will create a frustration free experience where you don't spend time looking, just doing and also that you don't have to go find a member of staff when you cannot find certain products.
Most regulars probably wont use this of course but if you're in a store you don't normally use, looking for a product you don't normally buy, or looking for a product for a friend then the app could come in use.
Romford, Essex will be the first store to test the new system but expect it to roll out fast if it proves to be a huge success.
Of course if they also tied in tailored-for-you deals whilst your shopping as well that could be scanned from your phone at the checkouts then that might peak more customers interest. Real-time deals could be a big point for future shoppers and if Tesco can start taking advantage of that it could take an even bigger chunk of the market away from places like Asda and Sainsburys.
If anyone in the Essex area wants to take part then contact the project manager Ben Martin at [email protected] with the subject heading 'SATNAV APP'. This wont get you onto the trail for definite but will get you considered.
