Gingerbread Goodness Coming to HTC Droid Incredible and LG Optimus 2X
With the number of Android phones out there, it generally takes some time for them to get updated to the latest Google has to offer. The manufacturers generally have their own personal touch, or skin, to the OS and it could take some time for the updates to come down.
Recently the Motorola DROID X was rumored to have started receiving its update to Gingerbread (actually it didn't yet, see this story), and it looks like it will have some friends along the way. HTC and LG have recently mentioned that they will have the HTC Droid Incredible and LG Optimus 2x up to the… well as the time of this writing 'latest" version of Android which is OS 2.3.3 a.k.a. Gingerbread.
What's the Rush? How About Google I/O?
A part of me thinks that a lot of manufacturers will be announcing their Gingerbread upgrade plans before Google I/O in May, because odds are they will at least showcase their latest additions to the OS which will have a "sweet" nickname that starts with "I". Both the Incredible and Optimus 2x are popular phones, so this news will be very pleasing to a good number of Android users. It's pretty hard to determine which phones the manufacturers will choose to update, but when devices get announced you know you can count on us to let you know!
