Motorola Quad Core Xoom 2 Coming Soon
There have been reports that Motorola already has plans to stop Xoom production early this summer and this news is the perfect reason why. Motorola was the first to release a dual core smartphone powered by Nvidia's Tegra 2, and the rumor about a quad core Xoom coming soon go along with reports that they will also be the first with a quad core Android device. The Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC was displayed in a working tablet during MWC in February and they said it will begin to ship in devices during Q3 of this year.
Motorola Quad Core Xoom 2 Another First
Motorola Mobility has been on a roll since separating from Motorola and becoming a individually operated part of the company. Sanjay Jah formally the CEO of Motorola and now the CEO of Motorola Mobility has aggressive plans for the mobile division and they look on place to keep with the industry leading schedule.
The Motorola Xoom is the first and only available Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet and it has had to suffer some unjust criticism as it relates to the early stages of the OS and not the hardware itself. Being first has both advantages and disadvantages, but one thing it will allow the manufacturer to do is come out with the first second generation Android Honeycomb Tablet.
Quad Core Xoom 2 Can It Really Be That Soon?
Nvidia will have the Tegra 3 ready to be shipped in devices by August they stated during their presentation at MWC. Motorola wants to release a new Xoom 2 as quickly as possible in order to combat the iPad 2 and have a major leg up on the upcoming Honeycomb tablets from the major manufacturers.
