Motorola Prepares to Issue OTA Update to Atrix 4G
Motorola has announced the first update to be released for its Atrix 4G phone. 1,000 eager Atrix users looking to get an early taste of the fixes had an opportunity to sign up to test the update.
The Atrix is currently Motorola’s hottest Android device. Boasting a dual core processor, advanced graphics (qHD), and lightning-fast 4G connectivity, it is billed by Motorola as “the world’s most powerful smartphone”.
Atrix Users will Still Have to Wait for Fast Uploads and Better Call Quality
But Atrix customers have been frustrated by its two most noticeable shortcomings: poor call quality, and the lack of HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access). Both in Canada and in the U.S., the slow upload speeds turned out to have been induced at the hands of the carriers. Sadly, neither of these issues are addressed in the current update.
The specs for this release are available on Motorola’s website, and include improved performance of bluetooth and Atrix’s fingerprint reader, longer battery life, and improved stability. We’ll keep you posted on fixes to the bigger issues as we hear about them.
