Lenovo CEO announces LePad 2 tablet release in Fall

The 2011 Chinese IT Leadership Summit held its opening banquet last night. Lenovo's CEO, Yang Yuanqing wisely chose the setting to announce the slimmer successor of the upcoming LePad tablet will be released in September or October. Rumors speculate the tablet will still run on Android but making this announcement so early could hurt sales of the first LePad due out in June as consumers could choose to wait the three or four months until the newer, slimmer version is released. Yang reported that the newer LePad was developed parallel to the original but with a different team so that the two could be released within months of each other but didn't elaborate any more as to what differences there may be in the hardware.
