A number of users over at the XDA Developers forum have stated that Kies, the desktop software for Samsung devices is currently being updated. The updates are supposedly rolling out to owners of the Samsung Galaxy phones. The rumors along with this is that the updated Kies is being put into action so that the phones will be able to update to Android 2.3.
Any word on timeframe?
There have been rumors that the 2.3 update will be rolling out near the end of March, but it doesn't look like this is so much the case. In most cases, the European versions of phones get updated first, and nothing has happened overseas that would lead me to believe that the Galaxy phones will get an update any time soon.
But with an update to Kies, it does look like the Galaxy S phones will shortly be getting the update that they have been looking for, an update to Android 2.3.
