Samsung Galaxy S II official: dual-core 1GHz CPU, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus

The Successor to the super successful Galaxy line of phones the Galaxy S II is officially upon us. Samsung announced the new device during their Mobile World Conference press event. It features a 4.27-inch 800 x 480 Super Amoled plus display, an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video recording along with a front facing 2 megapixel camera.  It will launch with Gingerbread and feature an updated Samsung TouchWiz 4.0 UI, and will feature integrated NFC support.

The Galaxy S II is the thinnest smartphone ever announced at 8.49mm thick, it is even thinner than the upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc's thinnest measurements by 0.2mm.  This is also the first device to use Samsung's just introduced Exynos 4210 dual core processor. We will finally be able to see how it stacks up against the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core beast.

The new TouchWiz 4.0 Skin running on Gingerbread though not a purge Google experience is definitely an improvement on all previous TouchWiz devices.  A new feature implemented is Samsung's Game Hub which will go against Sony's PlayStation suite. It adds the ability to download any size file even those greater than the Android Market size limit.

The overall feel of the Galaxy S II is that it is a worthy successor t0 the Galaxy line of smartphones. The new processor appears super quick and the improved TouchWiz UI makes it a better overall experience. The Super AMOLED Plus display is even more brilliant than the previous display on the Galaxy S phones and it's impressive. All of this wrapped in the thinnest smartphone ever released and Samsung appears to have another hit on their hands. It will be released overseas this month while the U.S. release date is still unknown. What do you guys think is this a worthy successor?
