Qualcomm’s Press Release page went crazy today and found among the madness was this little beauty. Netflix, as previously presumed, is coming to Android, but because of its security holes, the streaming video app is only coming to chipsets that have passed Netflix’s rigorous security tests. This includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon. That’s right, no bullets or lists, just one chipset. That’s the way to really reach out to a broad range of customers across a quickly-growing platform.
Now that being said, the Snapdragon chipset is featured in quite a few devices so your choices, if Netflix is your one selling point, cover several carriers and price-ranges. But it still leaves most of us to finish season 2 of our favorite Showtime serial killer-killing, serial killer crime drama on your PS3, Wii, Xbox, or boing old PC. Oh well, Still pretty cool and means Netflix is on the right track. Now if you want to read the press release you can find it below but I will warn you, it reads more like a Snapdragon ad than a press release about their partnership with Netflix.

Snapdragon processors are designed to deliver dynamic performance and media protection features in a turnkey package, allowing the devices they power to more easily pass through the approval process required for Netflix certification. Additionally, Netflix video decoding is handled by highly efficient dedicated hardware, extending battery life and improving picture quality.
