ViewSonic's ViewPad 4 Proves It's Hip To Be Square

ViewSonic is now in the smartphone business thanks to the release of their new Android-powered device, the ViewPad 4.

The ViewPad 4 is powered by the Qualcomm 1GHz MSM8255 processor and features a 4.1-inch screen, 5-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and capability for 720p video recording, and a 3-megapixel front camera. Also featured is the ability to play back HD video through the HDMI port. GPS and WiFi are also on board.

While these are fairly standard specs, what really stands out is the phone's design. While manufacturers have been pumping out one curvy device after another, the ViewPad 4 features squared edges that make for a rather striking look.

The phone is set to release with Android 2.2 in the mid part of 2011
