US Cellular Announces Android 2.2 Update Schedule

Sure, the buzz around the Android community is definitely focused on Android 2.3, Gingerbread, and Android 3.0, Honeycomb. But if you're using a device that's stuck on 2.1, then any news regarding an OS update is something to get excited about.

US Cellular, the nation's 6th largest cellular company, has announced via Facebook their plans to upgrade their Android devices to 2.2.

We're working with Samsung, HTC and LG to provide Froyo (Android 2.2) upgrades for all of our Android-powered phones. The [Samsung] Acclaim upgrade will be available by the end of next week, and customers with the [HTC] Desire will be able to upgrade their device by the end of this month. The [LG] Apex and [Samsung] Mesmerize will be ready for upgrades around March. Download details coming next week. Thanks for your patience.

If you're a US Cellular user with an Android device, drop us a comment and let us know if you're seeing the updates as promised.
