AT&T will drop Motorola Backflip and Xperia X-10

Just as Sony Ericsson annouced the new Xperia Arc at CES, AT&T decided to drop the old Xperia X-10 from their arsenal along with the Motorola Backflip. It also coincides with Sony Ericsson's annoucement that the Xperia X-10 family won't be updated to Android 2.2 or above.

The carrier suggests the Motorola FLIPOUT and Samsung Captivate as the perfect substitutes, but of course the new Xperia Arc is much more desirable. It will be released this quarter in some markets, such as Japan, but there is no schedule for a global rollout at this time.
