LG Prepares to Manufacture QLED Displays

LG has just entered a partnership with QD Vision, a company that can help them manufacturer quantum dot LED displays that promise to offer pure colors with an energy consumption that is smaller than OLED displays.

The QLED displays are supposed to be very thin and even work on flexible form factors, not unlike OLED displays. The QLED displays are supposed to offer good competition to Samsung's Super AMOLED display. LG has always been competiting with Samsung and they know that a huge drive for their smartphone sales has been that display. QLED could do the same for LG phones what Super AMOLED did for Samsung.

"LG Display has always been at the forefront of advanced display technology. This partnership with QD Vision will accelerate development of exciting new LGD products for the rapidly expanding display marketplace, and increase our industry leadership position," said Chang-Dong Kim, Vice President of LG Display.
