UK Customers of Vodafone who have been eagerly awaiting Android 2.2(Froyo) for their HTC Magic can finally sit back and relax. The company has announced via the Vodafone forum that the Froyo update for Magic devices is here in a two-stage OTA, one to prep the device, and another to install Android 2.2. You wont be able to force this update, but will recieve a notification that the new software is available, which will then prompt you to get the install underway. Vodafone also posted a little message on the forum explaining what to expect out of Froyo, saying:
"Android 2.2.1 will give customers a number of improvements including: latest Gmail and Android Market clients; ability to save applications directly onto an SD card; support for USB tethering so the phone can be used as a modem; improved support for Active Sync Exchange (email, contacts and calendar sync); enhancements to Bluetooth; and enhancements to the camera. The update also includes the latest Google security patches."
