Verizon to compete with the Android Market!

Is there really a need for another app store? Well, Verizon certainly thinks so. Rumors surfaced that Verizon was going to release their own app store to go head to head with the Android Market. This was confirmed this week by Verizon's VP of consumer solutions. It'll be interesting to see unfold since Verizon will need to pull out something big in order to expect users to make or even consider a switch. Despite everyone's less than optimistic view on this matter, the company has already begun accepting apps for their Vcast Store. Verizon's app store will be designed to run on Android phones running Android 2.2 or higher. Keep your eyes peeled for a release later this year.
