Get to the Sidelines - NFL Mobile - Android App Review

App Name: NFL Mobile by Verizon Wireless

Description: Exclusive mobile coverage of the NFL only from Verizon: LIVE audio broadcast of every NFL game, breaking news, Fantasy Player Tracker, game alerts and much more all FREE for the season.

How it works: NFL Mobile is a exclusive Verizon app since Verizon signed a 4 year deal with the NFL after Sprint held the rights before them.  Because it is exclusive, this app isn't on the Android Market.  Go here to send a text to get the app from Verizon, Some of the content is only available for Verizon customers but it still has plenty to offer.  The video options with NFL Mobile offers highlights from games and on-demand video including NFL Network and NFL Films at no additional cost. You can also listen to live radio regular season broadcasts for home and away teams. NFL Mobile can also track fantasy players (up to 9 players) so that way you can keep tabs on players without having to shuffle through all your info.  It also gives the option to pick a favorite team and you can receive alerts in game or when game starts or ends.

The exclusive content is being able to watch lives games on NFL Sunday and Thursday games on NFL Network and access to NFL RedZone which is video content seeing key scores by every team.

Opinion: This app works very well.  But what impressed me the most was the quality of the video. Having a MyTouch run video flawlessly without lag and crisp was something I was truly amazed by.  I also love all the features.  It is a must have for any football fan, especially if you run any Fantasy Football leagues.

Ratings:

  • Speed (4/5) - Video runs very well watching NFL Network, moving between options on menu is smooth
  • Features (4/5) - Fantasy tracking info, detailed in-game stats and video make this app very feature friendly
  • Theme (5/5) - Clean UI using the NFL logo when it is refreshing.
  • Overall (4/5) - This app is very nice and should be a football fan favorite.

Pro:

  • Fantasy Football tracking
  • Detailed game info
  • Free video

Cons:

  • No Widget

Conclusion: Whether you are a casual or hardcore kind of pro football fan you are this app is exactly the kind of app you need on your phone.
