Several sources are now able to confirm that Verizon is offering users with older Droids who have warranty-covered issues are receiving the Droid 2 and Droid Incredible as replacements for their problem devices. This does not mean you should “accidentally” drop your phone down a flight of stairs, or give it a bath in the dishwater; those are considered insurance replacements. The warranty covers devices that have ceased to function properly and is not the user’s fault.
Reports indicate that most users who are getting their choice of Droids are customers who have had issues with several replacement phones in the past, and are given a new Droid 2 or Incredible at the discretion of a Verizon supervisor.
