As we said, TELUS is launching the Desire today.  As you may know, the Desire is one of my favorites.  It is powerful, sleek, has physical buttons, and is very hackable.  If you are on TELUS in Canada, I highly recommend it.

The pricing is as follows:

  • 3-year contract: $79.99
  • 2-year contract: $349.99
  • 1-year contract: $399.99
  • off-contract: $449.99

You see that off-contract price?  That is what gets me.  A Nexus One clocks in at $530 + 25 for a dev account in USD.  The prices above are in Canadian Dollars.  It currently comes to about 438 USD.  It's quite a deal!  If you need a refresher, the specs are:

  • Operating System:  Android 2.1 with HTC Sense user interface
  • Processor:  1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon
  • Screen:  3.7 inch SLCD capactive touch screen with a 480 x 800 WVGA resolution
