Have you ever used a Mastercard PayPass or Visa payWave? I have not yet gotten the opportunity to use this awesome technology. It allows you to pass your card over a small receptor, it is as though you swiped it through a card reader. It looks really cool, almost like magic, but really there is not much actual benefit to this. You still take out your wallet and make a swiping gesture. Frankly, I don't understand the appeal from a practical perspective. It looks really cool though.
Looking cool like this is coming soon to future Android phones. AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Discover (the credit card company) are working together to create a similar system by way of smartphones. I think this is very cool.
Not particularly practical or secure, sure, but pretty cool. I want to be able to swipe my phone over my lock (car, home, or business) and have it unlock. The future is coming.
