Droid X OTA Update Due Today

It was Microsoft who first started this particular abuse of the English language, but now everyone is doing it… By definition, you can only have one favorite, not a whole bunch, think about it.

Ignoring my pedantry, and possible neurosis, today’s update for the Droid X has done something really clever with their favorite contacts list – you can now sort your favorites by call count – simple but brilliant.

Some of the other treats Droid X owners can expect with the the latest firmware update deal with reported shortcomings of the handset such as improving WiFi and ActiveSync functionality whilst others are just neat little enhancements like updated bluetooth and better 3G hotspot capabilities.

Other improvements are more cosmetic and include neater looking weather widgets and GPS symbol and a new cool way to organize your downloads. Moto also promise faster visual voice mail loading and coordinated date and time across displays. I think what they mean is that date and time displays are no longer uncoordinated.

Droid X owners: you can expect this update (1.13.604) automatically OTA unless you’re roaming, in which case you’ll have to go through the system update menu.

Already a great phone, this update makes the Droid X even greater. I hate to say it – but its one of my favorites.
