Norton, who has been looking to get into the mobile market with Android, has made its next step by releasing Norton Security into the App Market.
The purpose is to protect you against malware using scans and suspicious call blocking. So far there has been no reports of intrusions or viruses on the Android platform. Does this mean that it is impossible? No.
Yes there is a potential for security breaches on your android handset and there are ways that they can be compromised. However, the question remains, how does the app expect to detect problems. At this point I don't know of any virus signature databases for Android. But they also supply the options to remotely lock or wipe your phone should it be lost. There are already apps with these exact same features in the market, such as WaveSecure, MobileDefense, and Lookout. But choise is the purpose for Android right?
You can get the app on a free 90 day trial, however there are no details on pricing after that as of yet. Is this something you would be interested in?
