Freak People Out With PhotoSpeak - Android App Review

App Name: PhotoSpeak

Description: From the masters of image manipulation at MotionPortrait, PhotoSpeak takes still photos from your Android handset and transforms them into amazing 3D avatars that can repeat your every word on your phone.

How it works: You are greeted with a menu where you can choose sounds and pictures, or record and take your own. You simply take a picture of the face you want to use, then wait for it to process. Once that finishes, the face will "come alive" by blinking, and even saying whatever you record. Using this application is extremely strange, yet fun.

Opinion: While it isn't very useful, PhotoSpeak is easy to use and fun. I sat there for a good 20 minutes just playing around with it. The avatars created don't look extremely real, but they look real enough. Having your face come to life is truly amazing.

Pros:

  • Simple interface
  • Fun to use
  • Ability to use your own recordings and faces

Cons:

  • $3.90 price tag
  • Very picky about faces being perfect
  • Results aren't great, but are good enough

Conclusion: This application is something i've never seen before. While it isn't perfect, and the price tag is a bit high, I suggest you give it a shot and see what you think. If you don't like it, just get a refund. PhotoSpeak is certainly something that you can entertain yourself along with others with. The easy to use interface along with the ability to use your own picture and sound makes this app awesome.
