So the numbers have been flying on the EVO 4G. Everyone wanted one and everyone tried to get one. Or so we thought. The store opened at 6AM and people flocked to the outlets to get one. Sprints system staggered and fell under the load and the news was that this phone was selling in unbelievable numbers.
The news was that the EVO sold, in its first day, three times the number of phones sold by either the Samsung Instinct or the Palm Pre in their first three days combined. But what happened when someone actually came back to look at the reality of the situation? Counting changes things.
Initial estimates by BTIG put the phone at selling over 300,000 devices. Well now that actual numbers are being looked at this is changing. They have changed that estimate from 300,000 to closer to 150.000. this isn't likely to change soon either as the shortages are plaguing the new device and supply has yet to improve. Still the numbers are Impressive and Sprint has said that the phone is still inline with what the Instinct and Pre did in their first three days just not the original three times those numbers that everyone initially thought.
