Discovery Channel, watch your Favorite Shows, Android App Review

App Name: Discovery Channel

Description: With the FREE Discovery Channel App you'll get new videos, daily news stories, quizzes, photos, TV schedules and more.

How it works: The app gives you options to view videos, news clips and photos from various shows on the Discovery Channel.  You can also take quizzes and see when your fav show is going to be on looking up with the daily TV schedule.

Opinion: There are some shows on the Discovery Channel that I flip on from time to time like Deadliest Catch and MythBusters.  So the videos are good to watch for times when I have missed something.  However the video quality isn't always the best and you get ads before they come on.  The photos are pretty good however a little small.

Ratings :

  • Speed (3.5/5) -  The videos and pics do take some time pulling up however it is fairly quick.
  • Features (4/5) - You get the full Discovery experience here--photos, videos an quizzes. Pretty well put together options
  • Theme (4/5) - Simple design with the blue and white colors of the Discovery Channel logo.
  • Overall (4/5) -  Pretty nice app for all your Discovery Channel needs.

Pro:

  • Lots of different to watch and learn.
  • Schedule to find shows.

Cons:

  • Better quality videos/full shows to download
  • Bigger pics.

Conclusion: Overall, this app has a lot to offer.  I think it could offer more than just 2-3 minute clips but they do draw me in.  The pics are very nice but to view them full screen would be great (especially the Hubble space pics.)  The TV schedule is great cause after viewing some of the clips and can search for when I can watch whatever show I was getting a nibble of.  Definitely an app to help pass the time and sometimes learn something new.
