Huawei’s event in London is now over and the rumored P9 smartphone has officially been announced. Even though Huawei has listed off the specs and the phone’s physical design has been shown off to the public, that isn’t all there is to know about the device. Like many manufacturers, Huawei has posted up a series of videos on YouTube following the P9 announcement, and each video takes a different stance on what it’s displaying to the viewer, although out of the four that have been uploaded so far two of them are centered around design while the other two videos are centered around the photography capabilities of the phone.
The first video takes viewers from the beginning sketches of the device on paper and as the video progresses, the design of the phone begins to take shape and transition into a real phone as it manifests on screen while Huawei talks about different design aspects, like the smoothness of the white ceramic, or the jewel-like appearance on certain portions of the phone’s outer design. Towards the end, you get to see all the different colors of the phone lined up in a row. The second video focuses on the craftsmanship that went into creating the design of the phone and walks you through the different processes from Huawei’s designers, describing details on how and where they draw inspiration from to create the end result of the phone’s style and final look. If you enjoy learning about the design process and how things begin before they’re actually put together, it’s worth the watch.
The last two videos are focused on photography, and reinventing the idea of what people think they know about cameras and photography on smartphones. As smartphones are the main device for most people these days for just about everything from music, to internet, to voice, to text, and of course, pictures, most manufacturers are putting heavy focus on the camera and picture quality of their flagship devices. Huawei is no different here, and that shows in using Leica sensors for the device to hopefully deliver a stellar camera experience with even better picture quality.
