Xiaomi has introduced the company’s all-new flagship during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The Mi 5 was one of the largest announcements during that trade show, right next to the Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge and LG G5 unveilings. That being said, the company has introduced two variants of the device, the regular Mi 5 which comes with 3GB of RAM (and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage), and the Mi 5 Pro model which ships with 4GB of RAM (and 128GB of native storage) on the inside. Other than RAM and storage, these two devices are completely identical.

That being said, only the regular Mi 5 variant has been available for purchase in China thus far, Xiaomi has held several flash sales up to this day, and has managed to sell quite a few units already. Well, some users are still waiting for the company to release the Mi 5 Pro, and it seems like the company will host the first Mi 5 Pro flash sale on April 6th. Now, some of you might know that April 6th was actually the date Xiaomi was founded back in 2010, so this flash sale is quite probably symbolic as well. Now, the company will also sell a special edition Mi 5 Pro devices a week earlier, on March 31st. They will sell only 2,000 units of the device, and this will actually be a special edition fo the Mi 5 Pro, or as Xiaomi calls it, ‘Commemorative Edition’. These smartphones will ship with their model numbers engraved on the back, which is interesting. Over 160,000 users already registered for the Mi 5 Pro ‘Commemorative Edition’ flash sale, so the chances of you buying one are rather slim, but if you live in China, give it a shot, why not.
So, all in all, Xiaomi will sell two separate Mi 5 Pro version in the next two weeks, on March 31st they will sell 2,000 units of the ‘Commemorative Edition’, and on April 6th regular Mi 5 Pro units will be sold, and Xiaomi has hopefully secured enough units. The Mi 5 Pro costs 2,699 Yuan ($415) in China, which is an amazing price for this phone. The Mi 5 Pro sports a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, along with 4GB of RAM, as mentioned above. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, and it ships with a 3,000mAh battery on the inside. The phone also packs in a 16-megapixel rear-facing, and a 4-megapixel (2um pixel size) front-facing camera sensors.
