Lionel Messi Becomes Huawei’s Global Brand Ambassador

March 18, 2016 - Written By Kristijan Lucic

Huawei has been one of the most successful smartphone manufacturers last year. Not only did Huawei become the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer, but they’ve also put the pressure on Xiaomi in China. Xiaomi is still the largest smartphone manufacturer in China, but Huawei is right around the corner, and it will surely going to be interesting to see what happens this year. That being said, both companies have continued on selling quite a few devices this year as well, though we’re still waiting for March to end to see quarterly results of both of these companies.

That being said, Huawei has shared some rather interesting news with us, and those of you who are into soccer will find this more than interesting. Huawei has announced that the best soccer player in the world, who has received Ballon d’Or recently, has become Huawei’s Global Brand Ambassador. I’m talking about Lionel Messi, of course, and for those of you who don’t know, Lionel Messi is an Argentinian who plays for F.C: Barcelona. “Lionel Messi will help our brand to encourage people to focus, persevere and breakthrough; to connect with greatness, especially in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, where Huawei puts great devotions. We both honor the path we walked to what we have achieved, and with each new challenge we renew our commitment to find the path to success.” said, Kevin Ho, President of Handset Business at Huawei Consumer BG. On the other hand, this is what Lionel Messi had to say: “You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and go all in, always looking forward to achieving greatness. The day you think there are no improvements to be made, you have to keep working for reaching other achievements”.

Lionel Messi is one of the biggest names in the soccer world these days, and this partnership will definitely help Huawei raise brand awareness in many markets all around the world. Now, Messi is not the first soccer player Huawei has worked with, nor is Barcelona the first soccer team this company has been cooperating with, not by a long shot. Huawei has actually sponsored quite a few teams, and cooperated with a number of football stars. In the last few years alone they’ve invested in America, Sporting Cristal, Santa Fe, Atletico de Madrid, Arsenal and the AC Milan. Huawei has also worked with Robert Lewandowski and Alexis Sanchez in the lats couple of years, and Lionel Messi has now been added to that lineup.
