The company has held an event both in Beijing and Barcelona earlier today, and introduced the Mi 5 to the world. Now, we’re here to talk about pricing of the Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5 Pro. Xiaomi has revealed during their press conference in Barcelona, that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be available starting March 1st in China, both through mi.com, and through Xiaomi’s retail stores in the country. It is possible that the Mi 5 Pro won’t be available that soon, but we’ll see. The 32GB variant of the device which ships with 3GB of RAM is priced at 1,999 Yuan (~$300) in China, while the 3GB RAM model with 64GB of native storage costs 2,299 Yuan (~$350). The Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro aka the 4GB RAM model with 128GB of native storage, is priced at 2,699 Yuan (~$400). Keep in mind that we’ve calculated the pricing to dollars based on the current exchange rate. Hugo Barra actually showed off different prices in dollars because those are VAT-free, unlike the ones we’ve calculated here. Now, you’re probably wondering what’s the pricing in other markets? Well, the company did not disclose that info, but Hugo Barra did mention that the device will roll out to India soon, and other global markets will follow soon after that, so stay tuned.
