Pokemon-Inspired Pocket Mortys Game Lands On Android

January 14, 2016 - Written By Kristijan Lucic

The Rick and Morty animated TV series is quite popular in the US. This television series kicked off in 2013, and is still airing to this date. The two characters mentioned in the title are main protagonists of this series, and the genre it belongs to is comedy, though it’s officially also an adventure and SF in a way. That being said, something rather interesting happened, a game with characters from the TV series had landed on the Google Play under the name of ‘Pocket Mortys’.

Now, this game is new, but it already has over 3,000 reviews in the Google Play Store, and holds an average of 4.8 stars, which is a great score. What’s the game about? Well, it’s actually quite similar to some Pokemon games from GameBoys. You’re required to train Mortys (much like Pokemon) in order to improve their abilities and fight your opponents. The storyline is present in this game, though there are tons of quests which should provide plenty of game time for those of you who are interested. There are over 70 Mortys you can train in order to complete the best fighting team possible. You’ll encounter various characters from the TV series in this game, which will make the game even more appealing to those of you who are into Rick and Morty.

It is worth noting that the game progress is auto saved, and that this title is currently incompatible with mobile devices powered by Intel’s Atom chips. The developers said they’re working on a fix though, so we do hope that an update will be released soon. The in-app purchases are also present in this game, though that was to be expected. Pocket Mortys comes from a well-known Android developer, [adult swim] games, a developing company which released Major Mayhem, Day of the Viking, and a number of other titles, including Rick and Morty: Jerry’s Game. There are a number of official images included in the gallery down below, in case you’d like to check those out.
