Through a post on Twitter, OnePlus has announced the launch of a new accessory for the company’s first ever mid-range smartphone, the OnePlus X. The accessory in question happens to be a black leather case that’s described by OnePlus as “new” and “unique”, and is manufactured by Octovo – a company that’s known for producing high quality leather accessories like wallets. The OnePlus X case is currently available for purchase from the official OnePlus website at a price of $59.99. The case is said to have been created with “custom-made Italian leather and a Nubuck lining”. The case apparently also comes with a pocket that will allow users to store a couple of credit cards.

OnePlus has been introducing new accessories for both the OnePlus 2 as well as the OPnePlus X of late. The company had earlier launched cases and covers for its OnePlus X smartphone. The pricing for those accessories start at $8 and go up to $23. The company has also launched premium leather cases for both the OnePlus X as well as the OnePlus 2. Both cases are handcrafted by premium accessories maker Hard Graft and made out of genuine Tuscan leather. While the one meant for the latest flagship from the company, the OnePlus 2, is priced at $100, the case meant for the OnePlus X is listed at $85. While more option regarding accessories are always a good thing, the fact that these accessories cost about a third to half of the devices themselves probably limit their target audience to a large extent.

Taking a quick look at the OnePlus X, the smartphone is the first ever mid-range handset from Chinese smartphone vendor OnePlus, and comes fairly premium hardware at a pocket-friendly price. The phone features a 5-inch AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC, and comes with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage. The OnePlus X sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing primary camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing selfie-cam. Sensors on the OnePlus X include a fingerprint scanner, an accelerometer, a gyroscope and a proximity sensor along with A-GPS and GLONASS, while connectivity options include LTE, HSPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth v4.0. The phone sports a 2,525 mAh Lithium Polymer battery and comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed, in the form of Oxygen OS 2.0.
