Smartphones have become very popular and extremely powerful over the last couple of years. We’ve seen all sorts of designs and features offered by OEMs, and it’s really starting to become difficult to differentiate. There are still companies out there which are offering fresh takes on the design, but we’re mostly seeing similar devices to the ones already available on the market. well, let’s step away from regular smartphones for a bit, and talk about rugged ones. There are a number of companies who release rugged devices, and those are usually not focused on the design, at all, especially if we’re talking about a truly rugged device. Well, we’re here to talk about such a phone, the VCHOK M9 LTE handset, read on.
Now, the VCHOK M9 LTE is certainly not the prettiest device you’ve ever seen, nor the lightest one, but it sure is rugged. This company is quite probably a huge question mark to most of you, but they built a very interesting devices, that’s for sure. In terms of specs, this handset is really not all that special. it is powered by MediaTek’s MT6735 64-bit quad-core SoC, and sports a 4.5-inch 960 x 540 display. The phone also packs in 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, along with a 5,100mAh battery on the inside. The 13-megapixel shooter is available on the back of this phone, and Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here. NFC is, interestingly enough, also a part of this package, and so is ‘Pump Express’ fast charging. Now, specs are definitely not the most important thing when it comes to this device.
VCHOK wanted to prove how rugged this device is, so they’ve actually placed it in cement for three days, after which they’ve decided to crush the cement and see what happens next. Well, the device was fully functional, and everything was in order. This smartphone is also waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, and as you can see in the provided images, it has a thick layer of rubber-like material all around. The phone is available in Yellow and Black color options, and costs around $270. It can be purchased from GearBest and a number of other China-based resellers, in case you’re interested.
