EA is well-known for the SimCity game franchise, which made its way to Android in its latest iteration just last year as SimCity BuildIt. The game for those who are unfamiliar allows you to build up your own town and fill it with citizens to inhabit it. You’ll have to keep the citizens happy and keep them working so the town can flourish, which will allow you to expand more on the city. EA is now updating the game with new winter themed content that adds even more fun to the experience for those who already play or were thinking about giving it a try. They have also shared some interesting stats on the game from over the past year in an inforgraphic.

In regards to the new update content, players will be able to expand their city into the mountains which will be covered with snow to make for a more festive setting for this time of year, as they’ll be able to create a winter resort for the citizens. Players will also be able to add things like large Christmas trees decorated with ornaments, build a winter castle, ski lifts, and a tram to transport citizens around the resort.

There will also be a holiday gift market which can be added for citizens and resort goers to shop in, and new projects have been added so players can toss in some new custom tweaks to their own residence. EA states that the residence progression is also much faster than in previous versions of the game. Over the last year, SimCity BuildIt’s mayors (players) have achieved great things like keeping their Sims happy. According to EA, 88% of sims are happy compared to a real-world number of 52%. Players have also spent a total amount of 42.2 billion minutes playing the game, which is equivalent to 32,000 missions to Mars. 3.5 billion transactions have been made in game with 1.9 billion cargo containers shipped by sea and by air, and in regards to cities, players have built 63 million, 726 thousand, 861 cities collectively between players across the globe. About 2.9 million years of time has passed in those cities since the game launched last year, making for one huge success for the game as this displays its popularity. If you haven’t played SimCity BuildIt yet, you can grab it from the Play Store, and the update should already be live.
