Google Play Lists Pre-Order For Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit theaters yesterday as the 7th official film in the series, and it’s likely to keep theaters jam-packed for weeks until the hype from the movie dies down a little bit. While many eager fans were likely waiting in line to get inside and grab their seats well before yesterday, some individuals will be waiting as long as they can before they make the trip down to their local cinema to see the latest Star Wars flick. That is if you can manage to stay away from the spoilers which are likely to be all over the internet, causing you to cave and go see it so the film isn’t ruined for you .

For those who prefer watching movies, even big-budget films like Star Wars, in the comfort of their own home, Google Play Movies already has Star Wars: The Force Awakens available to pre-order, and it hasn’t even been one full day since the film’s launch. Keep in mind this is just a pre-order though and the movie won’t be available to buy and stream for quite some time. All Google is doing is giving people the option to pay for ownership early so it’s ready and waiting in their library the moment it goes live digitally. With pre-orders happening the day of release for blockbuster hits, it’s a wonder if Google will decide to do the same for other, smaller pictures as well.

Of course, when it comes to huge films from popular franchises, the latest in the Star Wars lineup is not the first movie Google has put for a day-1 pre-order, and it surely won’t be the last as this is a trend that is unlikely to die out. If you’re someone who has already seen the film and want to own it as soon as possible, Google has you covered for either $15 which gets you the standard definition quality, while $5 more for a total of $20 will score you the HD version of the movie. As with all other Play Movies options, you’ll be able to watch on a number of devices with different sized screens, and you can even stream it to your Chromecast or Android TV device that’s plugged into the big screen TV. There is no time frame listed for the release of the Play Movies version, but expect it to be at least a month into the new year. In addition to the film pre-order, you can also now pick up the original soundtrack for The Force Awakens in the music section of the Play Store.
